Why
I am a Muslim

I
consider myself a practical guy. I am the sort of person who is
not about to follow any blind rituals and fast for no reason. Yes,
I might do it for awhile because of pressure from parents or society
as a whole but if I cannot find any logical reason to why I should
be doing it, I will in time, leave it all together. Stories of angels,
afterlife, existence of heaven and hell will not hold weight for
me, if there is no proof. Anybody can come up with stories like
that and anybody can preach to do good. And as you know, I was a
non-practicing Muslim for a long time. Then after reading more about
Islam on the Internet, I started to be a real believer. Some people
convert to Islam because of numerous reasons; some convert while
they were in prison, while some convert after reading about the
life of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). For my case I “convert”
because of scientific miracles. From
the human embroynic development to the roundness of the earth,
I have read numerous scientific miracles in the Quran but I’m
gonna highlight 3 that made a profound impact on me. |

This
is how the Quran came to be. God gives his revelations to the
Prophet Muhammad through the Angel Gabriel. The Prophet would
simply recite what was revealed to him for his companions to write
down. They complied everything into a book and its called the
Quran. All this happened around 1400 years ago. |

Mountains
If you were to ask me to draw a cross-section of a mountain it
will probably look like this. Since I did not take any Geology
classes nor do I have interest, I think my drawing would be what
most people would draw. |

The
Quran explained that God made mountains with ROOTS. These roots
acts like a nail or peg because without these roots the earth
would be shaking ALL THE TIME. So that means.. in actual fact,
a mountain looked like this:-
“Have we not
made the earth as a bed and the mountains as pegs?” (78:6-7)
“And he has
set firm mountains in the earth so that it would not shake with
you...” (16:15)

This
is what a mountain looks like and this is a FACT.

The
mountains, like pegs, have deep roots embedded in the ground.

So
my drawing before should be like this.. This is what I wanna
ask you. How can ANYONE know that mountains have ROOTS without
sophisticated equipment?!!!

| And
to make it more interesting, this scientific fact is backed up by
specialists in Geology and some of them are non-muslims. The thought
that came to my mind is that, how can the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
knows that mountains have roots since he lived all his life in the
desert? And he revealed this 1400 years ago and he have no access
to any sophisticated, modern instrument. Even right now, as a guy
living modern times, I didn’t know that a mountain has a root
cause I thought it lies flat on earth.
Two
Seas
This particular miracle takes top spot for me because I was bewildered
when I first read about it. The Quran mentioned of 2 seas that
DO NOT MIX.
He has let loose the
two seas, converging together, with a barrier between them they
do not break through. (Qur'an, 55:19-20)
Now if I have 2 cups
of water and pour them out in a bowl, I know for a fact that these
2 water will mix in the bowl. So this verse doesn’t make
sense to me.

| Oceanographers
tells us otherwise.
It is a FACT that the
Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea MEETS but DOES NOT mix because
of the difference in the density of their waters. They called
it “surface tension”. And this tension prevents the
2 seas from mingling with one another, just as if a thin wall
were between them.

There
are large waves, strong currents, and tides in the Mediterranean
Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Mediterranean Sea water enters the
Atlantic by Gibraltar. But their temperature, salinity, and densities
do not change, because of the barrier that separates them. |

it is IMPOSSIBLE to tell that the 2 seas DOES NOT MIX.
This is what I wanna ask you.... How can ANYONE know these 2 seas
does not mix without using sophisticated equipment?!!! |

| I am
floored. Again, how can the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) or anybody for
that matter, knows of the existent of these 2 seas and their peculiar
non-mixing nature? And even if I take a look at the pictures of
the Straits of Gibraltar.. it looks like any ordinary sea to me.
And last but not least...
Iron
The Holy Qur'an tells us that the iron was “sent down”
to earth in the verse…
“And We also
SENT DOWN IRON in which there lies great force and which has many
uses for mankind… (Qur'an, 57:25)”
But I thought Iron
is already lying all over Earth in the first place like the rest
of the elements. But check this video out done by the Discovery

| Through
the Quran, I am certain now that this information was revealed by
some Supreme Being.. that is God; NO WAY a man can possess this
sort of knowledge 1400 years ago.Now the whole “stories”
of angels, the good deeds to gain during Ramadan and afterlife suddenly
falls into place and becomes REAL. And as I read further, the book
commands you to be respectful of your parents, orphans, widows etc
and do good deeds. But here comes the bad news… the book also
warns of a Judgement Day, where you are gonna meet your maker and
He will place your deeds on a scale. And if you fail you will stay
in Hell for ETERNITY and if you succeed, you will stay in Heaven
for ETERNITY. Are we in deep trouble or are we in deep trouble?
So soon, these things
start to manifest in my heart and mind and although how hard I
try to wrestle with it and try to come out with some logical explanation
to counter it.. I realize that I can’t find any. And soon
I realize that I am cornered and the next issue that I have been
running away from my life, and I have to confront, is PRAYERS.

It [the Qur’an]
is simply a reminder to all the worlds. You will certainly know
the truth of it after a while.
